There is a particular kind of reading anxiety that paranormal romance fans know well. You have found a new series—the premise is exactly right, the reviews are glowing, the first chapter has already done something to your pulse rate—and then you realize you have no idea whether you are holding book one, book three, or something that calls itself a standalone but very much is not. You buy the wrong entry point, spend the first fifty pages wondering why everyone seems to know each other already, and put it down feeling vaguely cheated.
This guide exists to prevent that. It is the complete reading order reference for every Robbie Cox series currently available at Feel-Good Reads, where each one begins, what order to follow, and which series to move to next when you finish one. Why reading order matters in paranormal romance series
Not every series demands to be read in strict order. Some are genuinely episodic, where each book follows a new couple with minimal continuity, and you can drop in anywhere without losing much. Robbie Cox’s series sit in a different category. They are built as connected worlds, where each book in a series adds to the mythology, deepens the secondary characters, and plants details that pay off in later installments.
This is particularly true of the world-building elements. The pack hierarchies in the shifter series, the magical systems in the witch suspense books, the supernatural threats that run as undercurrents through the small-town settings; these are constructed with care and accumulate meaning across the series. A reader who starts in the middle will enjoy the book they are holding. A reader who starts at the beginning will enjoy every book that follows it more.
There is also the emotional argument. Robbie Cox writes secondary characters who become romantic leads in later books. Meeting them first as supporting figures, watching them orbit the central couple, seeing what they want and what they are guarding against, it makes their own romantic arc land with considerably more weight when the series reaches them. The reading order is not a bureaucratic requirement. It is the architecture of a better reading experience.
While there are many books in the Robbie Cox backlist, let’s start with the series that started it all — Destined Mates.
Bull Creek Chronicles — reading order
While Bull Creek Chronicles was not the first paranormal series written, it is the one to start with. The three books that make up this series is a prequel to Destined Mates and explains how it all came about.
Books in order:
1. Alpha Rising — the town, its community, and the supernatural world beneath it are introduced through a hero who is as much a part of Bull Creek as the gravel roads. One Alpha is failing, another is sent to take over, and one wants to rule it all. The battle heats up when all three collide.
2. Panther Hunted — Lainie Everest moves to Bull Creek to help her brother, but a rejected lover follows, ready to take what he thinks is his.
3. Bear Necessities — Ezra Havlin, once part of a paranormal special forces unit called Para-Force has made his home in the woods of Bull Creek. However, the past never truly lets go and soon, he’s thrust back into the world that he ran from long ago.
Destined Mates — reading order
Destined Mates puts the fated mates trope front and center and examines it from every angle. This is the series for readers who want the fated mate bond as the primary focus—its pull, its resistance, its inevitable resolution—with the pack world as context rather than centerpiece.
Books in order:
1. Magic’s Mate — Bane Kastner is back and Dimitri Everest, Alpha of Bull Creek, might just be outmatched. When a witch, Adira Brennan, arrives to help, as well as find out why her magic is broken, sparks fly, and not all of them have to do with the battle.
2. Mate’s Appeal — Eve Harlow has left Willow Vale because of an abusive boyfriend. Arlin Landry was kicked out of Draven Falls for sticking up for a woman who couldn’t defend herself. Now, with Eve’s boyfriend having tracked her down in Bull Creek, Arlin might be the only way for her to escape once again.
3. Mate’s Touch — A dead body appears in Bull Creek and has Laine Everest scratching her head. Then a detective from the Pensacola DA’s office, Rance Culpepper, arrives and tries to steal her case. In the end, he steals more than that.
4. My Lover’s Mate — Noel Shannon was shocked when she found out her fiancé, Jake Goodman, was a bear shifter. She did the only thing she could—she ran. And she ran right to Bull Creek, which is full of shifters, witches, and vampires. She also fell in love with Wes Stapleton, owner of the paranormal bar, Everglades. Everything is going great until her fiancé appears in the doorway of Everglades.
5. My Mate’s Wife — Dimitri’s brother was forced into a mating against his will, but he’s made it work, even though he’s been miserable, and even knows who his mate truly is. Then one day his wife comes into his office saying she’s found her Destined Mate—and it’s the same woman!
6. Fortune’s Mate — Ezra Havlin is picking his life back up after working for Para-Force, but when Winnifred Preston arrives, he knows something isn’t right. Soon, he’s helping her fight the demons that have her bound to do their bidding and jumping back into the fight, this time for more then someone’s life. This time, it’s for his heart.
7. Mate in the Storm — Elias Grayson is hiding from the world because of something that he did when he was twenty-two. However, when Hurricane Delilah causes Isabella Harrow to crash in the woods outside of Bull Creek, this grumpy isolationist must push past his need to be left alone to help her heal. But it’s more than Isabella’s body that heals during the storm.
Bull Creek Holidays — reading order
Bull Creek Holidays follows Destined Mates, even though it’s not about fated mates. Instead, these seasonal stories follow familiar characters through holidays and celebrations with a warmth and lightness of touch that the main series reserves for its best moments. Each one has a suspenseful twist that throws the small paranormal community for a twist and keeps readers turning pages.
Books in order:
1. No Place to Hyde — a Halloween story that finds our favorite paranormal residents fighting to stop a creature who is killing shifters and absorbing their powers. It also reveals that there have been dragons in Bull Creek the entire time.
2. Sassy Claws — This Christmas Alanna Bradbury is faced with a past she ran away from as her cousin comes to her domestic abuse center for help. However, the person sent to drag her cousin back is also in love with her, which brings its own special gift this holiday season.
3. Lir’s Children — Someone has kidnapped Lir’s children, but worse than that, they’ve forced the shift to happen sooner than it should and trapped them in their wolves. Can the town stop the madwoman who’s determined to get rid of Lir’s children so she can have him for herself?
4. For Liberty’s Sake — Maureen Mondor’s daughter is in danger and she brings her to Bull Creek to protect her. However, the enemy is quick to follow and soon the entire community is threatened by a bomb only they can defuse.
5. Thanksgiving in Bull Creek — the last of the Bull Creek Holidays stories brings us back to Arlin and Eve, and the return of her boyfriend who is determined to make her pay for what she did to him. The series ends with a smile and a tear as their story comes full circle.
Read the books in order so you don’t miss any of the small details throughout. You’ll appreciate them much better. These books are built on the assumption that readers already know and love the characters from the Bull Creek Chronicles. The Holidays books are the reward for finishing the others, not the entry point into it.
There are more fated mates stories to be enjoyed and I’ll share them in a couple of weeks. For now, get started with these to whet your appetite. You won’t regret it.
